One thing I really like about Chinese culture. Everyone’s on their phone all the time. Nobody seems to mind, even in a nice setting, if you take a break mid-conversation, to look at your phone. Extremely accommodating to people, like myself, with Persistent Phone Use Disorder.

Professional tip: when the guy who controls export licenses for the entire country tries to get you on the phone, you find a way to answer the phone.
Between Politico and Axios we get a pretty clear picture that this was another case of 'the vibes are off and when we say jump they ask for an explanation rather than how high, so let's blow everything up.'

It's crazy how much better restaurants in America have gotten in the past two decades. This is at a small rustic-cabins lodge up at 7,000 feet in the Sierra Nevada, and not on the main tourist routes.
