Our Mayor @SeanVanGordon has prepared the following letter to community members in response to ice storm and we have launched a dedicated alerts page at springfield-or.gov/alerts for providing updates and other informational and resource links. We will continue to add more information to the page as it becomes available. Additionally, late Tuesday night, January 16, we declared a state of emergency in response to the devastating ice storm that has hit our community. The decision was made to ensure the safety and well-being of Springfield community members and to effectively respond to the impact of this natural disaster. Our emergency services team is working tirelessly to continue to assess the situation and help those in need. On January 17, 2024, Governor Tina Kotek joined us and Lane County in declaring Lane County a disaster. With these declarations, through Lane County, we can ask for available state and federal assistance. We have opened our Emergency Operations Center and are working closely with our Team Springfield Partners – @SUBUTIL, @SpringfieldPS, and @Willamalane. Also, working with other local agencies and state officials, to coordinate an effective response. We thank these dedicated individuals for their efforts in assisting our community.

ODF just reported that wildfire burned 33,936 Oregon acres in the 2022 season. The 10 year average is 117,860. The difference is the strategy and resources our new wildfire program provided to Oregon's amazing firefighters. Big thanks to them. #ORD2indivisible @ORD2Indivisible
