I'm really confused. Wasn't the VAT money going to help fix state schools and the broken SEND provision? Why is it going elsewhere?

Teachers humiliated pupils at top academy that refused reasonable adjustments for children with SEND saying “no exceptions”. One mother said: “Teachers yelled and even swore at students. They took pleasure in having power. It was psychological abuse.” theguardian.com/education/20…

Our Legal Team’s Maria Bloom is quoted in this piece which highlights the staggering figure that 98% of cases decided by the SEND Tribunal go against LAs - showing just how often families are forced to fight for the support their children need and are legally entitled to.

All of this, the system is broken. Placing disabled children into mainstream schools will not help an overstretched system either, but this seems to be the new mission. SEND children have a right to an education that helps, not traumatises them and their families.
“The system is broken… Our children are traumatised by school” @CarrieGrant1, broadcaster and National Autistic Society ambassador, speaks to #Newsnight about the National Audit Office report on children with special needs

Since being elected, I've been inundated with parents who are struggling to get their child the SEND support they need. No parent should be prosecuted for the failings in the school system, particularly where it comes to absence linked to SEN.

This has never worked before so how is she planning to make it work now? What does "system extensively improved" actually look like? So many words, so little substance

This powerful clip from @WaterlooRoad shows what can happen when a deaf pupil starts school without appropriate support in place. Every deaf child should have access to the support they need to thrive – no matter their type or level of deafness, or how they communicate.
