"A $2 million fine does not match the crimes that have been committed." State Sen. @senatorsrp says CA regulators should do more to hold State Farm accountable for handling of LA area wildfire claims. "I know people living out of their cars.. it is utterly unacceptable."

“SB 1076 would have created a first-of-its-kind pilot program to reduce insurance risk and guarantee insurance coverage for homeowners who made their properties fire-safe. I’m disappointed this bill died in committee. Fire survivors deserved better.” @senatorsrp

Appreciate the conversation with Ashley @ZavalaA of @kcranews that will air on California Politics 360 this Sunday. We are talking about the enforcement action taken against #StateFarm this week that still falls short of imposing real consequences. 📺Watch on @FOXLA Sunday at 6pm

ANCA-WR was proud to be present at the 4th Annual Tsakhkazard Kids Festival, celebrating our community’s rich traditions and the next generation of Armenian-American youth. Events like these serve as an important reminder of the role culture, education, and community engagement play in strengthening our collective future. We were also glad to have @senatorsrp and Glendale City Councilmember @Elen_Asatryan in attendance, showing their continued support for the Armenian-American community.

Masuma Khan has lived in Altadena for nearly 30 years. Last year, despite having no criminal history, she was detained by ICE and denied the medication she needed to breathe. Her family contacted my office, and we successfully advocated for her release. Stories like hers are why I’m demanding accountability inside ICE detention centers—even when officials try to block congressional oversight—and why I’ve fought for 10 years to shut down the Adelanto ICE Processing Center. Proud to join @SenatorSRP in fighting back against these abuses.

Our CEO Dahni K. Tsuboi participated in a press conference for the Masuma Khan Justice Act, a bill sponsored by Assemblymember CA-25 Sasha Renée Pérez (@senatorsrp) and co-sponsored by Assemblymember Mark Gonzalez (@AsmMarkGonzalez). The bill, SB 995, calls for the inspection of involuntary residential facilities, including privately owned detention centers and state hospitals as well as the enforcement of statewide health and safety standards. The bill is named after Masuma, an immigrant from Bangladesh, who was unlawfully detained in October during an immigration check-in appointment and held without access to medicine, food, or warm clothes. AJSOCAL is excited to support Senator Pérez and our partners in ensuring justice is enacted for Mrs. Khan and other detainees. @MALDEF @CHIRLA @SANSoCal

Senator @Scott_Wiener (D–San Francisco) on SB 747, the “No Kings Act”: If federal agents violate your constitutional rights, “you should be able to sue their a**, and that is the bottom line.” @SashaReneePerez @senatorsrp (D–Pasadena): “We need to give our constituents a clear way to be able to respond when these types of actions take place here in California. That is exactly what SB 747 is doing.” Sen. @SenAishaWahab @aishabbwahab (D–Hayward): “Enough is enough.”
And there it is —> CA State Senate PASSES Sen. @Scott_Wiener’s “No Kings Act” on a party line vote 30-10. It still must go through policy committees and floor in the Assembly before it can reach Gov. @GavinNewsom’s desk.

There should be no strings attached to providing much-needed emergency housing to #EatonFire survivors who are still displaced & suffering trauma. Survivors shouldn’t be forced to choose between having a safe place to live & preserving their legal rights. latimes.com/environment/stor…
