A new and united Ireland is within reach - all serious attention is now on a negotiated timeframe for a border poll and the associated programme for constitutional change. Preparation remains essential. What a truly remarkable moment of opportunity for our shared island.

I grew up unionist. What changed my mind? NI isn’t a viable state. Its size and geographical separation from GB makes public services and the economy problematic. It’s time to try something different. NI has never been a priority for the UK government. Partition was a mistake.
“Although I have a great love for Northern Ireland, I’m glad that it isn’t my job to sell the union. “Both economically and politically, and with everything going on in Britain and internationally, I think it’s going to be difficult to sell the union. “The reality is people here in Northern Ireland are finding it very difficult, and it just feels like this place is a basket case. “That is the challenge that unionism faces.” Sarah Creighton, political commentator, speaking at the FĂ©ile ‘Let’s Talk Politics’ event
