On Wednesday, after months of planning, I held an Emerging Leaders event at Stormont. Buses and trains were cancelled, threats of protests and road closures flooded social media, pressure built to cancel. We refused to be held to ransom. A joyous event focused on the future.

Northern Ireland has a choice. We can focus on barriers, or we can focus on opportunities. At the @CBI_NI & IBEC conference in Dundalk this morning: our growing all-island economy and Dual Market Access position give us real advantages. The challenge for politics now is having the ambition & confidence to build & collaborate on those strengths and turn that potential into investment, growth & good jobs. A confident, outward-looking NI will always do better than one focused inward & on barriers. #Economy #sharedisland #skills

Great to meet both Dundalk Institute of Technology (DkIT) and Queen’s University Belfast in Leinster House, as their new All-Ireland partnership moves closer, with DkIT becoming a University College of Queen's.

A great interview with a man of real integrity. An incredible asset to @QUBelfast -- "His approach has been reasoned and reasonable; he’s a polite, well-spoken and articulate individual, but underneath his principled stance clearly won’t be silenced." irishnews.com/news/northern-…

"Stormont doesn’t work and can’t work. Since 2010 the two governments have left this place to fester, as the weekly evidence of failure to deliver from every department proves. "There’s no budget, nor will there be, so Stormont can’t deliver public services properly but, more fundamentally, can’t function even as the glorified county council it is."
