Thoroughly enjoyed attending @bsicongress#BSI23 this past week! Delighted to have had the opportunity to present some of my PhD work from the @BasdeoLab ‘Supporting alveolar macrophage function to enhance immune responses to mycobacterium tuberculosis in the lungs’🫁🦠
Cliona Ni Cheallaigh shares some advice for taking “the fear factor” out of including marginalised groups in research - including talking, paying attention, thinking of practical considerations, and simply being thoughtful.
Interested in host-pathogen interactions? 🦠🔬We are looking for an enthusiatic candidate to join our interdisciplinary group for an #SFI funded PhD studentship on nutrient handing during non-tuberculous mycobacteria infection of alveolar macrophages! @TrinityMed1 @suzcloo ⬇️
It was a pleasure to get to speak at the @yISI_ie early career researcher's day and show some my work on using IFN-Y to improve macrophage responses to M. tuberculosis! There was such a lovely atmosphere about the place! Thank you so much to the organisers for inviting me! 😊
Government must honour its pledge to bridge the annual €307M shortfall in core funding for higher education.
Our sector is grossly underfunded and it is having a huge impact on students & staff.
Another budget cannot come and go without meaningful investment.

Basdeo lab in @TCDTMI@TrinityMed1 were delighted to host our summer research internship which got members of the public to partner with us in our research funded by @hrbireland. As well as carrying out research, our interns took part in labs, tried frailty suits and more! #PPI
Thank you so much to the lovely team @TCDTangent for hosting our @hrbireland funded Public Involvement in Research Innovation Workshop with @Foroige aimed at amplifying black voices in our research process. #LoveIrishResearch

Today’s decision was evidence-based and nuanced. Solutions range from ‘denaming’ the library to ‘retaining-and-explaining’ a memorial window.
Berkeley’s importance as an intellectual figure remains. How we memorialise him has changed.
Thank you to all involved in the process.
