Dearbhla M. Murphy @derv_murphy Sharee A. Basdeo @BasdeoLab & team report immune cells that defend against early infection can be trained to better fight tuberculosis and MRSA, especially in vulnerable individuals.
The figure: IFN-γ induces trained immunity in human monocytes. Enriched monocytes were left untrained (UT; white) or trained with IFN-γ (10 ng/mL; gray) for 24 hours. Cells were differentiated into monocyte-derived macrophages.

In this study, we used IFN-γ to induce trained immunity in human macrophages and enhanced their ability to kill M. tuberculosis and MRSA.
