Today, I put forward an amendment to the Mental Health Bill proposing that community treatment orders last no longer that 12 months, unless: *The patient or their nominated person is consulted; *A comprehensive review evaluates the necessity of the CTO; *A registered psychiatrist is consulted and written evidence is provided. The patient voice is critical in mental health provision. My amendment ensures that voice is heard. #MentalHealth #MentalHealthMatters #MentalHealthAwareness

Two years on, we remember all the innocent lives lost — Israeli and Palestinian. We remember the unbearable human cost: 1,200 Israelis killed, 48 still held hostage, and thousands of families living in fear and grief. We remember more than 67,000 Palestinian men, women, and children killed, one in four children suffering from severe acute malnutrition, and nearly 170,000 people injured. So much pain, so many lives shattered. My heart aches for every mother, father, child, and friend who will never come home. I continue to hope — deeply and desperately — for a lasting ceasefire, and for a peace process that values every human life equally.

The UK has taken the historic step & finally recognised the State of Palestine. Over a century since Balfour, decades after Oslo, & amid Israel’s assault on Gaza, recognition magnifies our duty: enforce international law & end complicity in occupation & genocide. Recognition is the beginning, not the end.

After decades of campaigning, tears, frustration and obstruction faced by the families and friends of the 97 fans who died at Hillsborough, the Government is finally introducing the Hillsborough Law. The Hillsborough Law means no more hiding behind authority, the right to legal aid for those who need it, and a duty of transparency. This legislation stands for all those whom the law has failed. It marks a step forward in ensuring accountability cannot be evaded. It is the result of a community banding together until justice and truth prevailed and I wholeheartedly congratulate the campaigners for their unceasing determination in securing this change in law. Last night we spent 3 solid hours voting in the Commons to protect the Employment Rights Bill against Tory attacks which had been submitted by their 'Lordships' House Guess which lobby Reform Party were in? Correct! With the Tories, voting to limit working class rights.

Israel's President Herzog claims there "are no innocent civilians in Gaza" and that the Palestinians are "an entire nation that is responsible". We should not be welcoming a man who has endorsed such dangerous, dehumanising beliefs.

Reform is led by Londoners who haven’t had a lifetime of using railways in the North. So I suppose it’s no surprise that they think it’s fine for us to be stuck with a second-class railway while the south gets modern, high-speed lines.👇🏻 We have higher ambitions for the North.
