I don’t know who needs to hear this, but I’m sorry if you received praise for a changing body in the midst of a struggle with an eating disorder.

The debrief is so important. Great reminder of effective questions to ask.
Effective debrief after training or competition should answer three questions 1. What can the athletes do better? 2. How can the programme be better? 3. How can I be better as coach? It’s in getting the answers right that performance will rise to a new level

Not okay!! A junior high teacher told 12 year old girls to stop eating red meat because it causes cancer. This is one of the ways disordered eating and eating disorders can start.

BREAKING: even if you eat exactly what your influencer of choice eats, or move your body exactly the same way that your influencer of choice moves, you will never have their body.

Such an important topic. @margomountjoy is a renowned world leader in this area.
Thanks you for the invitation to participate in the @WishWits with an important topic of safeguarding in sport. What is your clinical approach? What are you doing in your sport organization to protect your athletes ?#SafeSport

Sugar is sugar. Raw, refined, processed, organic: It’s all the same to your body. Don’t @ me with ‘raw sugar has micronutrients!’ because nobody eats sugar for nutrients. Also: the glycemic index of sugar isn’t super relevant if you’re not eating vast quantities of it by itself

I have been seeing this as well with some of the athletes I am working with.
Ok, new observation: I'm seeing an increasing number of teens, youth, & athletes with eating disorders & disordered eating triggered by experimenting with intermittent fasting. Many (not all) started fasting during COVID as a way to control weight when away from sport.
Dietitians are such an integral component of the Eating Disorder treatment team!
It literally took a dietitian to teach me that it's okay for a grown woman to eat two slices of pizza. We worked on this for three sessions. I was in my thirties before I ate 2 slices of pizza. Dietitians are an undervalued, critical provider in eating disorder recovery.
