When I was 20 I starved myself. Today I'm planning 8 small meals with high calories, fat, and protein to help my 8-yo who was on a ventilator gain weight. Every day as the weight comes on he grows stronger, happier, more alive. Perspective is a slap of cold water.

This report is SO IMPORTANT! Parents have no idea. I’ve been a pp doula for 35 yrs & they haven’t believed me. Also, they do not understood the important of just boiled water to kill bacteria in powdered formula. CR is the only one calling these things out! Thx!!

My 12-yo daughter and I just finished the series "A Small Light." If you haven't watched it, run to your TV. It is such a satisfyingly complete series.

I had the honor of interviewing Mallary for an episode of our podcast The Hunger Trap Podcast. Her much-needed book will (among other things) touch on the elusive in-between place that so many of us know exists between Anorexia and Anorexia full recovery.
I've known this for a few months but haven't been able to share it until now: I got a book deal from @_SimonElement, a @SimonBooks imprint! Grateful for my amazing editor @leahrmiller, as well as @mad2034, the best agent I could ask for.

The 3 stages of being rejected as a writer: 1. I feel like a loser 2. No, THEY'RE the losers. 3. They're absolutely right, this could be so much better. Only a handful of occupations/hobbies involve near-constant rejection. If you keep brushing yourself off, that's a power.

When my son had necrotized pneumonia nurses pulled up tissue from his lungs around the clock, cleaned his ventilator, brushed his black curly hair from his sweaty face, comforted us, kept him alive. I will never forget every one of their names & faces. Pay them. #NYCNurseStrike

The worst thing about writing anything is interviewing people you fall in love with and have such inspiring lives and you're like -- YOU, you, YOU can teach the world how to LIVE. And then having space to give them a 15-word quote.

Two weeks ago, I had four precious 12-year-old girls, including my daughter, with me at the county fair. They were getting blue Icees and corndogs for the walk to the car and ride home. (1/21)

I think if your child has ever been really sick the things that scare you change drastically. I still get scared, but things like sharks, spiders, and previously intimidating people I just can't take seriously.

Imagine spending the few short years you have on this planet opposing the Respect for Marriage Act because you believe love that your pea brain can't comprehend is threatening your way of life.

I was never anorexic, I HAD anorexia. There's so much in life to identify with -- I reject the trend that a sickness is a worthy identity.

A few months ago I had an unexplainable gut feeling and put our podcast on halt. Weeks later my son was put on a ventilator. I never promoted episodes like this one where we spoke with a breast cancer survivor about her eating disorder and body image: podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…

I know a woman in NY who is having her fallopian tubes removed for sterilization bc she fears Trump will be elected and Roe will pull all states rights. Drastic step or not, it's sickening that women are viewing their bodies as a liability.
