NEW: malware developers added nuclear & biological weapons text to to their spyware. Goal? To trigger LLM safety refusals... so that their spyware wouldn't be analyzed by an AI security scanner. Cleanest practical example I can think of for why over-indexing on first order safety alignment is risky. When closed (and open) models ship with aggressive refusals, they will be sprinkled with second-order blindspots that attackers will discover...and exploit. We are only in the earliest days of attackers leveraging these features, and it wouldn't surprise me if users systems that need to handle complex cybersecurity issues demand that models be less safety-blunted. In the weeds: @SocketSecurity's post also shows why intention matters in how you design a malware analysis pipeline to avoid prompt manipulation. H/T to colleagues that shared this with me socket.dev/blog/mini-shai-hu…

Imagine being an ethnic minority in the capital of your own country. Bizarre.
New. England school data. 2025-26 year. White British children are a minority in primary schools in every local authority area of London. But now this is also true in: Bedford (46.4%) Birmingham 24.1% Blackburn 38.6% Bolton 46.2% Bradford 37.4% Coventry 37.2% Derby 45.4% Leicester 19.4% Luton 12.7% Manchester 29.5% Milton Keynes 40% Nottingham 33.9% Oldham 44.7% Peterborough 38.4% Reading 30.2% Sandwell 32.9% Slough 9.7% Thurrock 44.6% Walsall 48.4% Wolverhampton 34.4%

This may be a fake Arabic term invented by the author himself, who was a Nazi Party member and publicly argued the Nazis should ally with the Arabs. So what did he mean by that?

Imagine feeling superior to third worlders while being from a culture that 1) transferred all its advanced technology to China for short term profit 2) ignores the long term risks of unlimited immigration 3) is rapidly dying due to low birth rates combined with point 2
This is the most third-world coded question possible. Think of how present-time oriented you'd have to be to not just go about your life unchanged for six months.

Not just archaeologists.

So, are archaeologists just, like, retarded, or what? I’m never going to understand this thing where educated people would rather look stupid than say something that violates their politics. It’s such a black pill. You really have to imagine of people like this that there’s nothing they wouldn’t do, no evil they wouldn’t countenance. They’ll literally just say anything. They can be made to believe anything.

The largest ethnicity in Africa by far is… Arabs. Most don’t understand how completely ravaged North Africa was by the invaders. The 'Scramble for Africa' never ended, it’s just that the Europeans gave up and left it to the Islamists.

A great example of convergent devolution: Based on a brief glance I’d have sworn it’s some European city, like Berlin. It’s fascinating how these places are now looking extremely similar, despite being on different continents.

In case you thought I was joking: Here’s an NDP delegate/transwoman bitching that his “equity card” (which is supposed to allow one to jump to the front of the line to speak) didn’t work — and a “cis woman” got to speak before he did.
I thought Portlandia went off the air years ago! Oh wait, this isn't Portlandia: it's the live NDP convention. Duh.

Gunnar Strömmer(M), Minister of Justice, #ChatControl supporter, during an interview on Politikbyrån. Journalist: Can we see your latest sms? Gunnar: Eeh, no, you can not. J: Why can't we get to see your recent sms? G: It is for what I believe to be obvious private reasons.

They’re not banned from the Olympics and they’re not women. Put more lies into such a brief headline challenge: Impossible.

Users arguing with chatbots to be allowed a few more prompts before bedtime. Others feeding Amazon’s servers tons of private info for hours… The entire thread reads like trolls satirizing AI users but I fear most arenn’t joking.
Replying to @scaling01
Yeah I’ve literally had to tell it “I know it’s late at night but I’m an adult and can handle myself” I don’t love it but it probably falls out of the “non-sycophantic assistant” persona Especially if it’s a plausibly useful/important convo tho object level like bro sleep can wait

Betel nut chewing is widespread in Taiwan, the country making the high tech chips powering the devices these people use the comment on Twitter. Also popular in Hunan, China. They could have looked that up but lack of curiosity and laziness prevents racists from learning things.

How much money should an “NGO” receive from a government before we should stop calling it a “non-governmental organisation” ? Deadly serious question. Why? Well, for example: an EU auditors’ 2025 report found that between 2021-23, the EU executive gave NGOs €7.4 Billion. Billion…

One thing the situation in Iran has made crystal clear is that whichever country, regime, group or political ideology, no matter how vile, disgusting or repressive, however many people are massacred or exterminated, as long as they are anti-West, specifically anti-US (and by extension anti-Israel), they will have the unquestioning support of the majority of the liberal left and the entertainment world. The same “progressive left” who happily live in the west, profit from its relative freedoms, yet turn their activism on and off like a switch, or in some cases, even make a living out of it. It is disappointing and exhausting. But grateful to all those who have spoken out. Especially in the comedy community. It takes a lot of guts to do so when everyone around you is looking the other way.

That’s what it’s like every day in Cuba, minus the freezing temperatures. The internet has done strange things to our societies. And disconcertingly, outside of war or extreme dictatorships there are fewer and fewer chances of experiencing life offline.
I read in the comments that some followers can’t take reading bad news anymore. I get that. I do. Is there anything good about this situation? Hard as it may be to believe, but there is. No electricity means no internet. And without the internet, people spend less time on social media and more time with their families and friends. People visit each other - even if it's to wash their clothes or cook some food. They go outside more often. They talk to their neighbors and to other people around them - because together, it’s easier, supporting one another when it matters most. It’s very hard for Ukrainians right now, but standing together makes it easier to endure. 📹: Kyiv, January 31, 2026.
