For evidence of Musk’s abuse of this site see this piece on X's “Election Integrity Community” as an efficient incitement machine/bullshit/paranoia engine. And how this chaos is the return on Musk's $44 billion investment (gift link) theatlantic.com/technology/a…

I can just about buy that the political left are routinely intolerant of differing views & can be harsh with people who dissent. What I will NEVER accept is that the right are not ten times worse. Just try being pro-immigration, trans inclusion or anti-Islamophobic for a day.

Hey followers - if you haven’t moved to Bluesky yet, I really encourage you to try it. It’s MUCH better than Twitter and so many of the people you follow are already there. I’m on SimonFrCox.bsky.social Here’s some tips if you make the move. Hope to see you there.

I’ve left Twitter for Bluesky. Musk is using this site, its algorithms, to promote his fascist politics. Remembering how my dad took the Times and Mirror, until Murdoch & Maxwell bought them and abused them. Find me @SimonFRCox.bsky.social

TIL that in 2001, a UK Foreign Office minister showed he didn’t know of European Union citizenship, created 9 years previously.

Today, hundreds of us gathered in County Durham as a show of solidarity with the women inside Derwentside Immigration Removal and to call for an end to immigration detention. We stand for dignity and freedom for all. That's why These Walls Must Fall. #NoOneIsIllegal

A fine example of thinking about the economy as something which only affects the environment, rather than something which is (increasingly!) affected by the environment. The end result, incidentally, is far *worse* “financial facts” as costs skyrocket and markets collapse.
Turns out @KevinClimate and other climate scientists have got it the wrong way round. You see "The urgency of mitigating climate change cannot change financial facts" King Cnut vibes in @thetimes

I spent 5 months investigating the role of a British accountant, a London broker and a Dubai-based British shipping magnate in at least 25 tankers bought for Lukoil’s Eiger Shipping, in an effort to lift the veil on Russia’s shadow fleet Hope you read it on.ft.com/3BFQBt5

This is actually very good on the face of it. Serious & necessary reforms including removing scandalous lower earning limit on sick pay & banning exploitative zero hours contracts. Still a lot of way to go, but a big win for all workers today #r4today theguardian.com/politics/202…

Journalists are meant to speak truth to power. That's our job. But what do you do when that power is your own news org? This thread (professional suicide note?) is about @guardian & @ObserverUK's future. Because it turns out you can’t believe everything you read on a poster.. 1/

most useful thing about returning to this incoherent fabulist, is the reminder that so few of those who empowered him have apologised to the rest of us

This is wilful ignorance. Parliament has to ratify treaties. It’s laid out in the Constitutional Reform and Governance Act 2010 (c. 25).
NEVER AGAIN should any prime minister be able to give away bits of our sovereign territory without a parliamentary vote. If Starmer won't promise to do so next time, then he shouldn't be trusted an inch over the Falklands or Gib.

This Spanish city centre has been car-free for 20 years. 12k people have moved into the centre since the ban. The Mayor says vehicles don’t have more right to public space than people — & he’s been re-elected 4 times since banning cars. Pontevedra via @WEF
