A “white voting bloc” has always been difficult to sustain in Britain because white Britons are not an ethnoreligious community with a single shared moral vision. Class, region, religion, education and culture often shape political instincts more than race alone. 1/2

Back in 2004 Labour's idea was to roll out regional assemblies in England starting with the N East. Overwhelming rejected in referendum, campaign against led by Cummings, process stopped. @MutualSocDem has blocked me so can't reply to @joycemcm . @TimPendry

Here it is, the final book in my Jacobite Trilogy, to be published in four weeks’ time. As a writer, female friendship and mother/daughter relationships are my passion and this book is no different. A wonderful author experience from @Bloodhoundbook

Wow! Just read Epilogue to J Herman's 3rd ed of "Trauma & Recovery" (2022). What a brilliant summary of her long life's work: "healing from trauma needs safety, remembering, grieving & reconnecting with a community". amazon.co.uk/Trauma-Recovery… @suzannezeedyk @PiersCross1 @joycemcm

Do you honestly believe the UN operates on democratic dynamics?

The other lesson is no less brutal. Our populations are hurting. That has to be convincingly fixed . Only then will the majority listen to arguments about democracy, tolerance and fellowship.
The right has just got an enormous ideological fillip. Their every worst prejudice justified. A felon elected President? This was an anti-incumbent vote based on anti-immigration, anti-inflation and misinformation. Dark times lie ahead. Trump will fix little and poison much.

Either way it’s certainly not measured or pragmatic. It’s ill-conceived, rushed and ideologically driven.

On 9.6.24: Charles Spencer announces divorce for 4th time. Michael Mosley goes out for walk in midday sun in heatwave, found dead. Both were sent off to boarding school at 8 & 7. Just saying. @PiersCross1 @suzannezeedyk @JoySchaverien @nickduffell

All of this x 100 …and it’s a lot to do with who runs - and writes for - these papers, the networks they are part of and what they consider important. In addition to @williamnhutton’s point we rarely hear from thousands of pupils ‘rejected’ every year by 11 plus @comp_future
Only one in ten science teachers in schools in less deprived areas have science degrees. Only one apprenticeship for every three who apply. Neither ever makes the Times front page. Yet the small travails of the privileged private schools is front page news

Society still values "A" grades over self-esteem because our perception of success is economic wealth and not relational wealth. This belief guides so many of our policies and practices. How many people are working against their natural instincts. We need knowledge & confidence.

The Nordic Council is an interesting supranational body for co-operation which provided a model for the British-Irish Council [I did some of the intellectual/research work]. Both may have some relevance to the resolution of the Palestine/Israel conflict. @faniaoz @AmiDar

Eton has produced 20 PMs. It's based on a lie legitimised by Clarendon Report 1864 (Times' letters of 15.6.23) This privatised their endowments (sounds familiar?), Eton's now worth £560m @Melissa_Benn @robertverkaik1 @nickduffell @PiersCross1 @PEPForum @suzannezeedyk @axrenton

Just read "The Unstoppable Rise of Petty Bourgeoisie" by Dan Evans. Strongly recommend to all who want to understand how Thatcher paved way for current neoliberal hegemony. The way back to social democracy won't be easy: 1st understand the sh*t we're in. @joycemcm @dai_alectic
