Computing has shortlisted Simprints' very own Tristram Norman for CTO of the Year - SME at the Digital Technical Leaders Awards 2026. Winners are announced on 2 July. The Awards recognise technology leaders in the UK who are driving innovation and impact. For us, this nomination underscores how innovative technology development can translate directly into real-world impact. This means empowering frontline health workers with the digital tools and systems to deliver healthcare services equitably, ensure continuity of care, and drive stronger data. And when health workers have access to better data, they make better decisions—and in resource-constrained healthcare settings, those decisions can save lives. Congratulations on the well-deserved recognition, Tristram! #techforgood #digitalID #biometrics #leadership

Last month, we brought our global team together on the Turkish coast for our annual Company Offsite. For a distributed organisation like Simprints, time together in person is a chance to connect, collaborate, and get aligned on the work ahead. A few highlights from the week: 🔹 Looking ahead – We explored our long-term vision, reflected on progress, and aligned on priorities for the year ahead. 🔹 Beach Olympics – A chance to step away from the day-to-day and have some fun, while showing that our teamwork and problem-solving hold up just as well on the beach. 🔹 Awards Evening – A moment to recognise colleagues whose hard work and dedication have helped push our mission forward. The week reinforced just how strong this team is, and our shared commitment to improving access to essential services through technology. A huge thank you to our Operations team for making it all happen, and to everyone who contributed their time, ideas, and energy throughout the week. #CompanyOffsite #TeamCulture #GlobalTeam #TechForGood

For years, Simprints developed fingerprint scanners built for the field. They were designed to work where others failed, on worn, scarred, or burnt fingerprints. But hardware is hard to scale and maintain at the last mile. We needed a solution that was just as inclusive, but more affordable. That’s why we've gradually moved to contactless face biometrics. We’ve kept inclusion at the forefront by training our algorithms against diverse datasets, ensuring our technology can work for everyone. And by using Edge AI, our biometrics work on-device and offline, meeting the needs of frontline health workers in rural clinics. The results speak for themselves. In 2025, our face biometrics achieved a 99.43% good scan rate. #EdgeAI #HealthEquity #Biometrics #DigitalInclusion #GlobalHealth

Today, on the @UN Global Day of Parents, we celebrate the commitment of parents everywhere and the vital role they play in building healthier futures for the next generation. This year’s theme, “Together for Parents,” is a reminder that supporting children starts with supporting those who care for them. Across the communities where Simprints works, parents and caregivers are often navigating barriers to accessing essential healthcare and services for their children. By working with our partners to strengthen the delivery of these services, we are supporting more equitable access for the families who rely on them. Whether it’s helping ensure children receive vaccinations on time, supporting continuity of care as they grow, or working with partners to improve access to life-saving nutrition services for vulnerable children, we’re proud to contribute to systems that help families access the care and support they need. #GlobalDayOfParents #TogetherForParents #GlobalHealth #ChildWellbeing #TechForGood

This week, Shana Basdeo attended the Healthcare Innovation Summit Africa #HISA, and one theme came through consistently: scaling digital health requires far more than deploying good technology. It requires asking a fundamental question early on: “Who is in the room when these systems are designed?” Here are Shana's key takeaways from the event. Context cannot be treated as an afterthought. International guidelines and global best practices provide an important foundation, but health tech and AI must be designed with local environments, policy realities, infrastructure constraints, and the end-users in mind. Inclusive AI starts with inclusive decision-making. A powerful session from Akhona Tshangela at WomenLift Health reinforced that the decisions that determine whether health systems work are made long before patients arrive. If AI and digital health infrastructure are to work for everyone, the people shaping these systems must reflect the realities of those delivering and accessing care every day. These conversations strongly mirror the work we're doing at Simprints. Building ethical digital ID solutions means designing for real-world contexts, interoperability, and the individuals ultimately relying on these systems. #HealthcareInnovation #DigitalHealth #HealthTech #Africa #InclusiveAI #Interoperability

This World Hunger Day, we’re pleased to announce a new partnership between Simprints and @acfusa, with support from @EdesiaNutrition's Innovation Fund. Currently, emergency nutrition services that deliver life-saving treatment to thousands of malnourished children each year rely on paper-based records, making continuity of care and post-treatment follow-up nearly impossible. Together, Action Against Hunger USA and Simprints will deploy a biometrically-enabled, electronic medical records system specifically designed for emergency nutrition treatment and prevention services in complex emergencies, improving patient-level follow-up, continuity of care, and data quality. The new system will be piloted as part of an innovative package of interventions aimed to reduce repeated episodes of child malnutrition across three counties in South Sudan. This marks Simprints’ first project in South Sudan and an important step in deepening our work to address malnutrition. #WorldHungerDay #Nutrition #GlobalHealth #DigitalHealth #Biometrics #SouthSudan #Malnutrition

One theme kept surfacing at the #GlobalPartnershipsConference last week: data sovereignty. Governments don't just need data. They need high-quality data that they can trust and use for the most impact. That's why Simprints is open-source and privacy-first. Verified coverage data that flows into DHIS2, national health platforms, and government systems. Technology built with Ministries, not just for them. This is what sustainable health infrastructure looks like. #DataSovereignty #HealthSystems #OpenSource #DHIS2 #DigitalHealth

What a week in Sheffield. 🙌 Carla Lewis, Natia Ubilava, and Cornelius Tenku from our Monitoring, Evaluation & Impact team presented at the @UKevaluation Conference 2026. The conference theme this year explored how evaluation evidence drives real-world change, and in our session we brought lessons straight from the field in Ghana: specifically, how continuous monitoring and programme adaptation are enabling digital ID to scale within routine child health services. Two numbers that stood out: ✅ 91% of Community Health Workers reported genuine enthusiasm for the digital system, motivation that held strong throughout implementation ✅ Evidence-driven adaptation helped the programme grow from 30 to 558 health facilities in a single year The week reinforced that monitoring is most powerful when it's built into how programmes learn and adapt, not just how they report. Huge thanks to everyone who joined our session and shared their thinking on evaluation, digital health, and what it really takes to implement at scale. 💙 #UKEval26 #Evaluation #DigitalHealth #GlobalHealth #MonitoringAndEvaluation #HealthSystems #LearningAndAdaptation

It's been a brilliant couple of days at the #GlobalPartnershipsConference. A real highlight was our CEO @TobyLNorman's talk at the @Gavi side event on catalytic financing and responsible technology partnerships. Reflecting on the challenges of scaling breakthrough technologies, Toby highlighted the need to create an ecosystem that produces scalable innovations for children's health since birth. Over in the Tech Village, our team had some great conversations at the Simprints stall around three key points: ➡️ Verified coverage: How stronger, trusted data ensures life-saving health services reach the right people. ➡️ Equity and ownership: Technology built for Digital Public Infrastructure, that governments can truly own, manage and run. ➡️ Innovative partnerships: Pursuing long-term partnerships and innovative financing for scalable, government-led infrastructure. Thanks to everyone who stopped by, shared insights, and challenged us to think bigger. ✨ 📸 Picture by Benjamin Hall / @FCDOGovUK #GlobalHealth #DigitalPublicInfrastructure #TechForGood

Day 1 at the Global Partnerships Conference 2026. We're in the Tech Village today and tomorrow—come talk to us about connected patient identity and what verified coverage looks like in practice. ✓ 4X duplicates reduced ✓ 3.5X data completion increase ✓ $12 in social benefits per $1 invested Whether you're a funder asking "how do we know our investment reached the right people?" or a government asking "how do we strengthen our health data systems so that we can act on data we trust?", we'd love to start that conversation. #GlobalPartnershipsConference #GPC2026 #TechVillage #PatientIdentity #HealthSystems #FCDO

What is the return on $1 invested in our biometric technology? ➡️ $12 in social benefits. That’s according to an independent, cost-effectiveness analysis by @MetalyticsTools of Simprints’ work with @BRACworld on a maternal and child health programme in Bangladesh. By improving identification and verification at the point of care, biometric technology can strengthen health service delivery while reducing gaps in coverage and continuity of care. And because our tools are open-source and privacy-first, Ministries can fully own the systems and data they rely on. We provide the verification; they own the system. #GPC2026

Today marks International Day of Families, established by the @UN to recognise the important role families play in social development and wellbeing worldwide. This year’s theme, “Families, Inequalities and Child Wellbeing”, draws attention to the growing inequalities affecting children’s futures and the importance of investing in systems that support families more holistically. We believe that improving access, continuity, and trust in healthcare can help strengthen support for families and communities, particularly in underserved settings. Building resilient health systems means keeping children, caregivers, and family wellbeing at the centre. Lasting progress depends not only on innovation, but on ensuring families can reliably access the care and support they need to thrive. #InternationalDayOfFamilies #ChildWellbeing #GlobalHealth #HealthcareAccess #DigitalHealth #Biometrics

Most global health programmes can tell you how many services they delivered. Very few can tell you how many people actually received the service. In Ethiopia, health workers are using biometrics to bridge that gap. When a health worker can verify exactly who they’ve reached, they can finally see who they’ve missed. With an accurate map of this coverage, programmes can act on real gaps, not inflated reports. By using our biometrics, duplicate records dropped by 4x in Ethiopia. #GPC2026 #VerifiedCoverage #GlobalHealth #Biometrics #HealthData
