The first loads of winter barley have started to arrive at our malting and grain storage sites across the UK π
That means it's all systems go for the next few months, with around 350,000 tonnes of malting barley set to be delivered into our stores π
Great team effort today! Made a start on WB Pearl πΎ for @SimpsonsMalt, coming in at 16.5% , time will tell yield wise. 2nd cut silage βοΈ also done and dusted β ! Harvest definitely going to be staggered with mixed desiccation dates.
Unifying and scaling the final few recipes for the book, which has been a very time consuming labour of love. Really excited to have this one in there...

Wild about wheat πΎ
Although most of our operation revolves around the procurement of malting barley and its processing into malt, by having @MSandPltd built into our business, it also allows us to procure, store and trade other cereals and pulses, including distilling wheat π₯
At the event, our seed and agronomy team showcased the 16 varieties at the site, highlighting their agronomic and market strengths and weaknesses β as well as advising on sowing times, crop protection and seed treatments β to inform growers' variety choices for harvest 2025 βοΈ
