Party discipline is generally so rigid in New Brunswick that disagreeing with a motion to adjourn the house may be viewed by some as a revolt or a rebellion causing an election.
This is very silly and not an accurate reflection of the constitutional order. #nbpoli
The Supreme Court of Canada held that the New Brunswick Lieutenant Governor must be bilingual in accordance with section 16(2) of the Charter. The Charter limits the appointment process of the LG under s.58 of the Constitution Act, 1867. #nbpoli#cdnpoli#cdnlaw#cdncrown
The ruling however does not impact the validity of any Order in Council, Royal Assent or any other action by former Lieutenant Governor Brenda Murphy. However an appointment of an unilingual LG would be invalid if it happened in the future. #nbpoli#cdncrown#cdnlaw#cdnpoli
In the June 6th Canada Gazette, Parks Canada employee Scott Reid was given permission to seek nomination and be a candidate as a councilor for Fundy Albert 3 days before the New Brunswick Municipal election!!!
Mr Reid was successfully elected as a councilor #nbpoli#cdnpoli
This application for judicial review is unlikely to be successful.
The laws regarding an MP's sessional allowance are quite clear and Parliamentary Privilege means it is up to the House of Commons itself not the individual MP to grant an exception. #cdnpoli#nbpoli#cdnlaw

Will the Alberta independence referendum question trigger section 1 of the Clarity Act requiring the House of Commons to consider within 30 days whether the question is clear? Likely? #abpoli#cdnpoli#cdnlaw
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has added this referendum question to be voted on October 19th
“Should Alberta remain a province of Canada or should the government of Alberta commence the legal process required under the Canadian constitution to hold a binding provincial referendum on whether or not Alberta should separate from Canada?”
There are a variety of a list of factors to consider including whether there is a clear expression of the will of the people, the views of provincial assemblies, aboriginal representatives.
If the question is not clear, there is no obligation on the government of Canada to negotiate.
Given the nature of the proposed question is to hold a separate legally binding referendum question, that is likely the end of the inquiry for this issue under the clarity act.
In the more recent 2003 funding agreement for the completion of TransCanada Highway, the federal government allows tolls but they must apply to all drivers regardless of province, and an alternative route be made available. #nbpoli

In 2006, after a government MLA quit caucus altering the balance of power in the New Brunswick Assembly, the opposition proposed changing committee composition to reflect the new minority government. #nbpoli
Due to the death of candidate in the election for Saint Andrews Ward 3

Note that New Brunswick's forest ban was far more proportional than Nova Scotia's. It only applied to provincial Crown Lands unlike Nova Scotia which applied to all forested lands. #nbpoli
