Tijuana River sewage isn’t just a water problem, it also impacts air quality. I've fought for several years to address this, securing hundreds of millions in federal funds. We're working in a bipartisan way towards a solution.

Our paper just came out in Science Advances showing the chemicals in the air in Imperial Beach (many aerosolized from the polluted Tijuana River). Thanks to the entire team-especially Prof. Nate Slade and his (then) graduate student (now Dr.) Adam Cooper.

Excited to share a new paper in ES&T from @SladeGroupUCSD about sea spray bounce fractions and viscosity!!
Key points include:
1) 40nm particles had 3x bounce factor than 100nm
2) Kelvin effect/density more impactful than RH

Recent work published in Environ. Sci. Atmos. by Lincoln Mehndiratta, uses measurements done in the Grassian group with a Raman microscope; studying immersion ice nucleation behavior of lipid particles, also examining how phase and droplet size influence this process!
