If you just arrived, welcome! Have any interest in fabricating some sweet soft and chrome to assist with everything from communication to positive habit forming? #A11y? You might have found the right place! I'm heavily interested in creating accessible technologies that address gaps in care, utility, and function. A blend of futurism with a humanist flair. Zero internet connectivity required, no "cloud backups" or gathering of your data. Everything runs local, zero "AI" bloat.

Finally made it out to Holland for Crash-a-rama. Early arrival so we don't fight over seating.

Kids are getting a free ride around the track in school buses used for the event before start.

"Our toy is soooo OP we need to lock it down" noted before IPO is a bold move. Not clever, just really affirmative in their willingness to commit to shenanigans.
Strongly feel that this whole mythos thing is just a marketing stunt

Fable 5 and Mythos getting b& due to wild power scaling claims does seem a bit.. odd. I get it to an extent, moreso if there were secret tools able to be built with a few cleverly crafted prompts. A magic password to global financial market destabilization or something. Still really annoyed this locks everyone out, not entirely surprised though. Biotech folks were sounding the alarms long before release.
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…

This is actually a huge part of the problem, and a key reason why sociability takes a hit. There is charisma and there is an innate aloofness only permissible via deficit. At some point you have to be able to acknowledge this if you want more than bullying as your life's experience.
i think sometimes autism doesnt make people bad at recognizing when they are being annoying and instead just makes them not gaf

I, a slight dummy who really should know better, attempted to add an emoji to one of my prompts in ACK. "hand waving emoji Good morning!" was not expected. I should have know this would happen, as the TTS engine I'm using is just piping over Unicode, which the engine turns into speech. I can add an ability to ignore this later on.

People have asked me, "Hey Jon, what did you think of Devon Price's Unmasking Autism?" Well, wonder no longer.

Do not do this. There is no advantage around making this headcanon, only disadvantages as you attempt to equate success with autism. As you fail to compare yourself with (x) celebrity it'll only end up reinforcing negative concepts around your disability. If even present in the first place!
checking in on autism instag.... oh god

About to watch some cars and school busses pull off some stunts at Holland Speedway tomorrow just to spite God and his wonderful plan for my neurology. I will be bringing NRR 30 headphones!

I will also be driving to and from, which is probably the longest I've committed to a continuous drive. My job has me driving but that offers breaks and such. This is a 53 minute marathon run from Depew.

SOTA replacing FOTM will not be something I'll just allow to continue due to nerds not accepting reality of criticism. If it can be supplanted by an open weight model in a few months it is not "state of the art". You just paid for a respec to Paladin due to a recent patch. Eventually Druid will get a damage pass to comp and they will do the same thing two months later.

Fable 5 is state-of-the-art on nearly all tested benchmarks, with exceptional performance in software engineering, knowledge work, scientific research, and vision. The longer and more complex the task, the larger Fable 5’s lead over our other models.

Is Fable good? Probably. Is it worth generating all of this buzz over? Probably not. Is Anthropic trying too hard to tell us how to play the game, like Blizzard with WoW in the early years? 🙃

Alright, I feel like I need to pull this one apart so folks stop getting lost in their feelings. Yes, this is physically possible. We have done this with the ISS. As stated above.. this also makes utilization of this process when considering deployment and rapid depreciation of AI compute incredibly.. expensive. Lighting $50M-$500M on fire for maybe a few years of actual profit generating use per deployment. With current generation launch capability. So yes, the nerds are right in all directions. It can happen, it would just cost so much the process wouldn't be feasible unless you want to use what could be considered last generation hardware in two years.

Computer chips have to stay at 140F tops. The radiator would need to be the size of a football field for just one satellite. The international space station cost 150 billion dollars - AI satelites dont have that kind of budget my friend.
Community note
Chips like H100s operate at ~90C, not capped at 140F. AI1 satellite design uses 110 m² radiators (football field ~5,350 m²). ISS $150B covers life support and structure far beyond radiators. Starcloud-1 flew H100 in space. tomshardware.com/tech-industry/… starcloud.com/starcloud-1 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internati…

No major code updates to ACK yet, trying to make the existing features play better as I become a bit more skilled with its use. Moving a few things around to make it a little faster to get to where I want to be in the app. Right now I have five profiles (referred to as decks) I can swap through, with six context switches for each. This provides a lot of depth, it just takes a while to pan through as the situation changes through a conversation. I don't want to give myself too much to focus on either, as even with perfect proficiency I'll never be at the speed of those I'm chatting with. Raw, brutal optimization is needed. Ditching the context profiles per deck. This reduces complexity from 96 entries per deck to... sixteen again. Much easier to page through. Now I just have to solidify how I arrange them. This also makes developing muscle memory around issuance of greetings universal. The context switches were ignoring this type of advantage by replacing everything in the deck.

I just saw this features on the news. One of the reasons I disdain the “neurodiversity movement” advocates like Nick Walker etc is bc they shame ppl who say they want a cure for things like this I think it’s really shameful that they would deny ppl nbcnews.com/health/mental-he…

Anthropic wants to control who gets access to their models and what they're allowed to do with them, but also wants the US government to block Chinese labs from developing open weight models. Sorry, but fuck that.

Honestly if I had a monkey's paw handy I would strongly consider wishing that everyone doing the "my Jesus is real, your Jesus is a false Jesus sent by the devil to trick you" thing could just see for like 3 seconds how this looks to normal people

Rebel Galaxy Outlaw is still getting review bombed over its addition to Steam. Weird. Think I'm going to pick it up. Been wanting to relive Wing Commander Privateer for a bit now, Elite: Dangerous managed to scratch that itch a bit without the story.

When the grounding crystal you keep in your purse actually ends up serving a purpose, rather than assuming chakras are being aligned or something while in your inventory. Some folks do need a little enforcement, ADHD baddies can easily experience a lift by having something around that allows them to remain associated with their environment. It isn't crystal woo, nobody wanted to explain to women what was actually happening here. Even horoscopes can help keep someone with issues maintaining consistency, as they act as their own form of positive reinforcement. It's why most are uplifting!
My generation was so clueless on ADHD, that I thought my scattered brain was due to being a Gemini.
