Quick Initial Attack and Unified Response Holds San Bernardino Vegetation Fire to Under Four Acres
Today at 11:45 a.m., San Bernardino County Fire responded to reports of smoke in the area of E. Daley Canyon Road and North Chiquita Lane in the City of San Bernardino. The first arriving units located a vegetation fire burning in light to medium fuels with a moderate rate of spread.
Firefighters immediately initiated a direct attack and worked aggressively to establish hose lines around the fire perimeter. Due to the quick actions of initial attack crews and strong coordination between responding agencies, the forward progress of the fire was stopped and held to 3.63 acres.
Crews remained on scene throughout the afternoon conducting mop-up operations and reinforcing containment lines. No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by San Bernardino County Fire’s Office of the Fire Marshall.
