I work with asylum seekers who have minimal funds , if any, and having a tablet / laptop can be the difference between being able to engage in study and not. Additionally, providing a smartphone can be vital in someone being able to access physical and mental health care and be able to contact friends / family etc. All these things are essential for wellbeing. Solidaritech provided an asylum seeker I work with a chromebook and it has been essential in enabling him to engage with college study. Subsequently it made a noticeable positive difference to his mental health. Being able to study means that, should he get a positive decision, he will be in a better position to find employment and integrate.
