Apropos of vids I'm watching, I have to say that "Badfinger" is a terrible name for a self-respecting band. I mean, a "badfinger" is what you extract from your pants after scratching your ass.

And Nilsson's version of "Without You" is truly better than Badfinger's original. He conveys the anguish. Man, even before I got my first radio, I heard that song everywhere and, even as a kid, was moved by it.

Writing for a market or a specific open call has prompted me to write some good stories over the years, but I've never really liked the constraint.
My next stories are just going to be for their own sakes. I'm writing for my next volume of Stellar Stories.

This is how I feel about blurbs and summaries for my works.
It's a conundrum: The reader wants a sense beforehand of what I'm offering, but I think, "You'll know when you read the work."
If I could write blurbs, that's what I'd write. 😉

Resistance to Social Security reform from Boomers is understandable. People forget how much their financial life has been shaped by the expectation of that monthly handout. To say a Boomer is merely greedy and indifferent to you is unjust. It's the system they were born into.
The only way anything gets fixed is to grandfather them into something that doesn't suddenly impoverish them.
But instead histrionic politicians block any reform and people on Twitter indulge their hate-boners for Boomers.

I'm seeing an awful lot of these overlong posts that slide from point to point with all manner of short sentences, and while accusing a poster of posting AI slop is like accusing a man of being light in the loafers, sometimes the aidar, like the gaydar, is not to be ignored. There's a distasteful flavor to these posts -- a dearth of personality -- and I am learning to terminate my engagement very quickly.

I've been reading Dwellers in the Deep by @WoodFenton, where he gives an exhaustive look into deep sea diving, and I am always amazed by stuff like this because imagine how many men had to die/be crippled to figure out these exacting processes. Also, it's a good book.
