We oppose the Truman Brewery's planning proposals that prioritise office space & commercial units, threatening independent shops & offers just six social housing units, despite the site’s capacity to deliver hundreds.

"It’s dire. A muddle of a building with bits of cabbage cascading down its shaved off corners... It’s just not good enough. Shame on them all." Well said! (From the author's website comments) Help! @edwinheathcote@RowanMoore@ollywainwright@thegentleauthor
Controversial Liverpool Street station redevelopment dropped in favour of new design
Plans to smother Liverpool Street station in a massive blob have been scrapped, and an alternative redevelopment plan that will preserve much of the existing station building has been shown off.
Whitechapel is one of London’s most historic areas but its unique character is at risk of being overwhelmed by towers marching east from the City🏬
SAVE is strongly objecting to the latest plans for a 17-storey tower in a conservation area

Community note
The image used has cropped out the existing high rise buildings immediately neighbouring the proposed site. Buildings of an equivalent height already exist on this road.
Viewing the real street view will allow people to make a fair judgement on the plans.

Now is the time to make your Christmas card list...
We offer pack of five Christmas cards featuring the Dining Room extravagantly garlanded for a feast with a black swan as the centrepiece of Mrs Jervis's gastronomic display.

The Old Truman Brewery wants to build huge office blocks across the entire brewery site.
The Council has a Master Plan for the brewery focused on social housing. @nijjormanush
they plan to ruin the heart of brick lane. please consider sending in an objection to these rather ugly plans - and follow @thegentleauthor for updates spitalfieldslife.com/2024/10…
I totally agree! It's frustrating to see community spaces replaced by high-rent options that don't help locals. What do you think we can do to preserve them?

Always the excuse for rubbish buildings. I’m a @SpitalfieldsT trustee. We’ve restored scores of “unsavable” buildings. We’ve never lost money on one. Though we’ve made no profit on several. The profit motive needs to be removed from the equation for iconic at risk buildings.
