The prosecution judged that her continuous statements to him saying, “Apologize to the victims,” caused his fear and anxiety. Although she had reported him to police or sought support programs and treatment information when he said, “I’m going to commit suicide,” the prosecution deemed her simultaneous caregiving while demanding an apology as “gaslighting.” She responded, “I did not intend to harm him; I simply demanded he apologize to the victims. Judging this as gaslighting stems from the prejudiced assumption that a typical sex crime victim would not make such a claim.” However, the situation worsened. On June 12, the second trial court ruled her guilty of both coercion and defamation with factual disclosure.
