We had the pleasure of hosting Canadian Senators (@SenateCA) the Honourable Ratna Omidvar and the Honourable Mary Coyle this afternoon. @SenCoyle, former vice president of @stfxuniversity and director of @CoadyStFX, is a long-time champion for women’s leadership, gender equality, and the rights of Indigenous Peoples. @ratnaomi is an internationally recognized voice on migration, diversity, and inclusion. She came to Canada from Iran in 1981 and her own experiences of displacement, integration, and citizen engagement have been the foundation of her work. We were pleased to share Coady's history, ongoing work, and future plans with them both.

We were pleased to be joined by the Gyro Club of New Glasgow today. The group took a tour of the Institute then gathered in the Marie Michael Library to learn about the past, present, and future of Coady Institute, the Antigonish Movement, and @StFXExtension.

Earlier today, @stfxuniversity announced an outstanding $14.5 million contribution from the Jeannine Deveau Education Equity Fund. This funding will support the creation of two new centres on campus - the Deveau Centre for Indigenous Governance and Social Justice and the Black Student Success Centre. It also includes a five-year commitment to Coady Institute's #CircleOfAbundance – Amplifying Indigenous Women’s Leadership programs alongside many other programs and projects. We share our deepest gratitude today and always to the Deveau family for their dedicated support to education equity, and to our work here at Coady and StFX.
