Not every mining standard is created equal, and automakers need to be aware of the strengths and shortcomings of various standards in order to continue to make progress on responsible sourcing, avoid due diligence fines, and protect themselves from risk.
Check out this analysis from @StandMighty and @RainforestNORW of the limitations of three existing mining standards @IRMA, @CopperMark /RMI and @tsminitiative. They took a look at how these three different standards work to avoid deforestation and minimize impacts of mining on critical ecosystems like rainforests.

How can British Columbia save its forests from more harm at the hands of the wood pellet industry? Rachel Holt of Veridian Ecological Consulting and @DrSuzanneSimard of The Mother Tree Project tell us how.
Countries like Japan should phase out harmful subsidies that encourage biomass and lead to logging in places like British Columbia. Leaders worldwide have opportunities to βdrive true climate solutions that lie in protecting and restoring forests, not in cutting them down.β
