I was gonna ignore this and just do my own thing but something in my gut says it wouldn’t be right to not say anything. Hi, I’m Cass and I’m the founder of my own vtuber group, VChuu. Here’s my thoughts and concerns on this upcoming one… 1️⃣ As cute and pretty as this group’s theme and ideas are, asking members to pay AT LEAST $3000 on a new model (art is estimated to be around $3K, rigging you’re on your own) is a red flag to me. It’s a very cute idea and makes sense to want everyone to have designs that work super cohesively together. But roughly $3K is just for model art. You’re looking at around $1K for very basic rigging, then if they want to do special assets or art for debut, you’d probably need to spend or contribute more there too. ☑️ Solution for this : work with partnered artists to help you do models instead of making your members pay for a new one. It could be something you work out with an artist and rigger regarding future compensation plans. But this would work out more positively for them versus telling applicants “it you’re selected, you have to pay this”. 2️⃣ Even if you have an already existing princess / royalty design, you will still need to get it re-done by the same artist. 3️⃣ This appears to be an indie VTuber group. It sounds like they do not have means to pay you anything, at least not at the start. So you’re planning on spending this large amount of money with just friendship, promotion, and cohesive branding in return. 4️⃣ If you leave / if the group dies, you will probably keep everything you paid for as you own it. But it’ll just have been money you have spent with no return. So you will need to be prepared for this. 5️⃣ It sounds like designs will be made / adjusted together. So you might not like something the group wants on your model. Heck, you might not even like the model artist’s art style. If you choose to apply for this group, just please please be careful. Make sure you’re financially stable as it will be a large investment. 🩷
