Bernardo Silva is literally leaving City for free this summer.
To everyone that’s okay/happy with Cucurella leaving, do you think Arsenal or City would let one of their most senior players and starting left back leave for £43m? No they wouldn’t because they’re serious clubs who are serious about winning titles, Chelsea are not. You should be furious

Yeah no problem. Smart time to move on. Got age 24-27, didn’t quite become elite, sell him for about what you paid. Reasonable business.
🚨 Real Madrid reach agreement with Chelsea to sign Marc Cucurella. 27yo left-back joins #RMFC from #CFC for €60m - €55m fixed €5m bonuses. Spain international’s deal done at rapid speed & now on to paperwork stage @TheAthleticFC after @FabrizioRomano nytimes.com/athletic/7325256…

I think this is a back 3 indicator but not a strong one. Don’t think Barco is a LB for the PL but roaming LWB perhaps.
Replying to @Statford_Bridge
think we're going three at the back with a new LWB? or Barco at LB?

On the low side but given age contract performance I’m fine with it. Gotta figure out a second LB now.

Was hiding behind the couch but all the strikers are fun, Ali Ahmed is at Norwich and is very good, Kone at Sassuolo is tidy, and Luc de Fougerolles is a Fulham academy kid who will probably end up in the EFL/MLS.

@Statford_Bridge any exciting players to watch in this Canada match?

A long shot, but in Sep '26, my MA course comes to an end, and I'm looking for employment, preferably keeping me in London. I'm open to football writing work, whether full-time/freelance, or professional football scouting/analysis work. My contact details are in the next tweet.

Think SRS is gonna have a nice pro career as a consistently solid but unspectacular DM. 12 seasons midtable Championship stuff.
🚨🚨| OFFICIAL: Chelsea have confirmed that four academy players will leave the club when their contracts expire on June 30. • Brodi Hughes • Richard Olise • Sam Rak-Sakyi • Jimi Tauriainen

Not dark horse as in can win, but dark horse as in "will do better than expectation" Norway, Ecuador, Netherlands, Canada/USA/Mexico, Tunisia, Uzbekistan, Morocco, Turkiye

Who is your dark horse for the wc. Ecuador is a really intriguing prospect for me.

WC definitely throws a wrench but it's honestly pretty impressive that Alonso's been the manager for 3 weeks and we're not even 1% closer to knowing what next year will look like

Wyscout's price increases over the past 3 years are *scandalous*
Quick update on Best 11 Radars: Sadly, right now I don’t feel comfortable spending the money Wyscout just quoted me in a price increase This means that for the time being, the app won’t update data. But most leagues are done or stopped for World Cup so gives me time to plan! 💪

I got the chance to meet CY when I came over, and I’m not sure I’ve met someone with their head screwed on straighter. Guy gets what it’s all about. This is a lovely read.
Twenty years of anything is a long time. I wrote about a journey through time that has been far more than I ever imagined it could be, reflecting on what has been, and looking forward to what the future might hold. thechels.net/2026/forever-yo…

Florentino Perez claims he is making a bid next week for a player who could cost £130m, but he plays for a UCL team, which would rule out Enzo F. (@MadridXtra)

I think the biggest thing to figure out about JP for next season is whether he’s the first/last third guy, or the middle third guy. I am pretty hesitant to say he’s the middle third guy.
One of my questions for this season has been, can João Pedro get to >2.5 shots per game. He ended up clearing it, only just, with a strong second half. Still, the very end of the season saw his shot totals declining again. The target for next season is consistency.

You’ve got a lot of funky game state stuff with Leeds West Ham Napoli, some fun transition stuff v Palace Brentford and Villa. Just a lot of very contextual production in there.

Not often that I “report” news but hearing from a lot of sources stateside that Chelsea are very interested in adding 17 year old USL midfielder Francesco Alhuesco to the BlueCo network.
