Undoubtedly one of the most important videos we've* ever made. Within the first minute, you'll be alarmed at the general public perception of the danger cyclists pose to them vs cars. It's incredibly enlightening, and shows how much needs to be done to change the way we all live. •nothing to do with me, but a GREAT job by the team at GCN.

A very meaningful collaboration with @SteveGilbert84 et al @msk_health. We need to pause & think why we have been missing disadvantaged populations who need #PhysicalActivity interventions the most. Hint: maybe funding/academic reward systems have something to do with it? 🤔
Designing #physicalactivity intervention studies that sufficiently address cultural, linguistic and geographical #diversity is critical to ensure the reliability of comparisons with population-representative data doi.org/10.1123/jpah.2023-06…

We’re told to exercise because it’s “good for us”. But are health benefits enough incentive for most people to exercise regularly? Truth is, most health benefits associated with exercise are both time-delayed and intangible. And both of these factors tend to devalue these benefits. Couple this with our tendency to: - Avoid effort - Prioritise immediate rewards, and - Play down our risk of future negative events For many, the short-term costs of exercise outweigh the long-term benefits. It’s tough to compete with other more sedentary options providing immediate rewards with minimal (or no) effort. Part of the solution? To increase our focus on the many short-term benefits of exercise - such as enhanced pleasure, mood, or enjoyment. If we don’t exercise for long-term health benefits, we should just because it can make us feel good. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/3633…

Can we run from #depression? Yes, says our new analysis of 177 studies and 10,673 people. #Exercise seems as good as therapy and medication, especially for #Dance, #strength training, #running and #walking. Aim for >30mins per day. See our preprint: bit.ly/deprex_preprint

Just watched a personal trainer try to get a group to perform an exercise so complicated none of them could actually do it. Hopefully aim of the class was to waste everyone's time, because other than the PT's ego, no one got a workout there!
