We are very proud of John Buckley, who arrived home at 2.00 am this morning and still reported for duty with Shropshire Brass this afternoon. He had spent the previous two days in France playing the Last Post at various ceremonies to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D Day.

It was fantastic to have the opportunity to adjudicate again at the West of England Regional Championships in Torquay today. The competition was impeccably organised, and the bands performed wonderfully. It was an absolute joy to listen to each and every one of them.

Taking a very slow walk this afternoon due to a painful left knee and gout in my right big toe. It's still enjoyable getting some fresh air, even if it's not at my usual Light Infantry pace. Otis and Reilly love it at Grenville Country Park in Telford.
