I remember when a tan suit was a scandal.
One day I hope MAGA supporters can ADMIT if Barack Hussien Obama had done anything remotely close to this, we’d still be hearing about it today

#nv02 may be in play? Never thought I'd see the day.
Well, here we are. While this primary election wasn’t a big turnout, and no Republican in CD-2 received a majority of the vote, the Republican candidate advancing to the general election faces a well-positioned Democrat opponent. It will be an interesting summer and fall, but I believe it’s fair to say that CD-2, for the first time in its history, isn’t a Republican guarantee. What was once a safe prediction may quickly become an expensive one. Why? The fact that the largest block of registered Republican voters in CD-2 is 35.5%. James Settelmeyer ran a campaign rooted in integrity, energized on the issues, and fueled by a deep passion for the place he calls home. That is something I hope he is proud of. The candidate I supported did not prevail Tuesday night. However, my longstanding respect for the voters has not changed. It is my hope that the values and culture that built our Original Nevada, Congressional District Two, will still have a strong voice in the U.S. House of Representatives. I look forward to the next 5 months as an election observer, instead of a candidate.

I asked Nevada Democrats today about rumors that Gov. @JosephMLombardo may call a special session to address tax relief for Nevadans, perhaps by suspending gasoline or sales taxes. Democratic gubernatorial nominee AG @AaronDFordNV noted some of the governor's vetoes. 1/

A tax relief special session is going to give both sides a chance to criticize the other, but the underlying issue is going to be more complicated than is apparent right now. But since fundraising must stop once lawmakers convene, the odds are it will come sooner than later. 3/3

"Joe Lombardo has had 4 years, 2 sessions to address some of these very important issues. These people sent him bills that he could have signed and could have brought immediate relief. They could be experiencing that relief right now," Ford said. 2/

Anyone who can’t or won’t answer this question should not be reported out of Judiciary. As shibboleths go, this is a fairly good one.
BLUMENTHAL: Who won the 2020 election? JUDGE TRAYNOR: This issue has become a question of political controversy. Justice Jackson-- BLUMENTHAL: It's 'political controversy' only because the president refuses to accept the results. I'm asking you as a matter of fact. Who won? TRAYNOR: As Justice Jackson stated, it is not appropriate to engage in discussion regarding that BLUMENTHAL: So you're going to use the same script that other nominees have used before this panel to avoid the question? TRAYNOR: I think the precedent established by Justice Jackson ... BLUMENTHAL: As a matter of fact, which presidential candidate got more votes in 2020? TRAYNOR: As I stated before, this is an issue that Justice Jackson-- BLUMENTHAL: You're adopting a script that has been dictated to you by the White House

Election Day turnout update: As of 1515 (that's 3:15 p.m. to you!), total turnout (mail early vote Election Day) stands at 16.7%. Not great, Nevada. If you don't pick up the pace, we might not crack 20% by the time polls close at 7 p.m. There's still time. VOTE!

I'm told by a couple sources that a post-election special session is possible to explore tax relief, specifically gas or sales. Gov. @JosephMLombardo's office released a statement, saying it's under consideration. 1/

"Governor Lombardo is exploring ways to provide needed tax relief to Nevadans. While we have not finalized a specific plan, we are actively discussing the best ways to do just that." Notably, either sales or gas tax relief would require action by the Legislature.

This is a wonderful essay by the chief librarian of the New York Public Library, showing why books and libraries are essential infrastructure. I commend it to everybody. nytimes.com/2026/05/31/opini…
