We live in Britain in 2024, there should not be a mad rush at 8am in order to speak to a doctor. It's just ludicrous how this has not been resolved, across all surgeries yet. How many don't even bother, knowing the hassle? It is absolutely amazing that this is still going on.

I transitioned in 1975 age 19. Everyone, incl. my parents saw me become a person who could laugh They saw me earn 4 degrees, be honoured with 2 more, made the Law Society/Liberty Lawyer of the year, given an OBE, marry my partner of 46yrs & raise 4 lovely public servants

Trauma doesn't make people stronger. It damages their nervous system. It hijacks their digestive track. It keeps the person in a constant loop of hypervigilance. To tell someone they are stronger because of trauma is to deny what it has cost them to survive.

After months of planning, the feedback from the @AWCAcademics conference is great 🙏 Co-organising this academic event in Scotland was, for me, done for personal reasons: after being told to leave school as a #workingclass kid of 15 - "because you're not going to pass anything."

Delighted to hear Labour are considering creating a cross department taskforce, led by @AngelaRayner, to end homelessness, as outlined in our manifesto. We're looking forward to more announcements from all parties over the coming days to create a society with #AHomeForEveryone
SCOOP Angela Rayner is planning a powerful Blair-style unit to tackle homelessness if Labour wins power - based on the Rough Sleeping Unit based in Number 10 under Tony Blair - will sit within the new Office of the Deputy Prime Minister at heart of govt bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Highest homelessness in the developed world 😔 Unlikely to have happened by chance.
18 May 2024
Why does Britain have the highest rate of homelessness in the developed world, by far? Because for decades we have not built anywhere near enough homes that people on low incomes can afford to rent. And the last decade has been worst of all. #BuildSocialHousing #VoteForHome

We're looking forward to making sure the North East is a better place for Disabled people to live, work, and play. You can read what we've asked of the mayoral candidates to make this a reality in our #DisabilityDevolution2024 campaign here: differencenortheast.org.uk/w…

We’re the North East Combined Authority and today was a big day for us. Law has been passed in Parliament that means we can set ourselves up and deliver on the North East devolution deal. In May the public get to elect a mayor to lead us.
