We live in Britain in 2024, there should not be a mad rush at 8am in order to speak to a doctor.
It's just ludicrous how this has not been resolved, across all surgeries yet.
How many don't even bother, knowing the hassle?
It is absolutely amazing that this is still going on.
I transitioned in 1975 age 19.
Everyone, incl. my parents saw me become a person who could laugh
They saw me earn 4 degrees, be honoured with 2 more, made the Law Society/Liberty Lawyer of the year, given an OBE, marry my partner of 46yrs & raise 4 lovely public servants
Trauma doesn't make people stronger. It damages their nervous system. It hijacks their digestive track. It keeps the person in a constant loop of hypervigilance. To tell someone they are stronger because of trauma is to deny what it has cost them to survive.

After months of planning, the feedback from the @AWCAcademics conference is great 🙏 Co-organising this academic event in Scotland was, for me, done for personal reasons: after being told to leave school as a #workingclass kid of 15 - "because you're not going to pass anything."
Eeee I give up.
Reviewer 1, three things will make this paper ready for publication. Proceeds to give me sound advice to improve my paper with I agree with.
Reviewer 2, this is without doubt the worst paper I have ever layed eyes 👀 on.

Great double act from Sheena and @AdamsEmmaAudrey at #FuseConf24. Really important work involving some of the most marginalised and vulnerable populations.
Fuse Director Sheena Ramsay& @AdamsEmmaAudrey presenting 3 case studies on how they have worked with communities, practitioners, policy makers and charities to find solutions and create actionable change to address the needs of homeless people in North East England.

Why does Britain have the highest rate of homelessness in the developed world, by far?
Because for decades we have not built anywhere near enough homes that people on low incomes can afford to rent. And the last decade has been worst of all.

We're looking forward to making sure the North East is a better place for Disabled people to live, work, and play.

We’re the North East Combined Authority and today was a big day for us. Law has been passed in Parliament that means we can set ourselves up and deliver on the North East devolution deal. In May the public get to elect a mayor to lead us.
