A good meeting with Federal Chancellor of Germany Friedrich Merz @bundeskanzler in Évian. We discussed defense support for Ukraine, above all the further strengthening of our air defense, the situation on the frontline, and the results of Ukraine’s long-range sanctions. We also separately discussed ways to implement the agreements reached at today’s G7–Ukraine meeting. It is important that Ukraine’s effectiveness on the battlefield and in its long-range capabilities be complemented by effective global pressure on Russia. Thank you for supporting Ukraine and for Germany’s leadership in protecting the lives of our people from massive Russian attacks. I am grateful for your support for our path toward the European Union. This is important for the Ukrainian people.

Today, the Russians again struck the special territory around the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. A “shahed” hit one of the buildings of the Centralized Spent Fuel Storage Facility. An extremely critical infrastructure facility – and an extremely vile Russian strike. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Ministry of Energy, and all our services are already working to ensure that each of our partners knows what has happened. Russia deliberately struck this particular nuclear infrastructure facility. As of now, there are no readings exceeding normal background radiation levels. But there is certainly an increase in Russia’s brazenness, which long ago went off the charts. Ukrainian first responders extinguished the fire at this facility after the strike. And real new steps by the world are needed so that the Russians feel that this terrorist war of theirs is a blow to Russia itself. Last night, there were also Russian strikes on other civilian facilities in 13 of our regions. In total, over the course of this past week, Russia launched 88 missiles, more than 3,250 attack drones, and around 1,800 guided aerial bombs against Ukraine. Pressure on Russia must be increased. Thank you to everyone who’s helping!

It is time to end this war. But Russia’s ruler wants to keep fighting. That is why Ukrainian sanctions against this aggression are working. Last night, our drones covered a distance of about 1,000 kilometers to the St. Petersburg region – to the enemy navy’s arsenals and a base in Kronstadt. Our long-range sanctions also reached about 500 kilometers into the Krasnodar region – and hit an oil depot. These are important results of the joint efforts by warriors from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine. Russia must end its war and stop its attacks on life. Any manifestation of injustice against Ukraine will receive a just response. I thank our warriors for their precision.

The Princess Royal has officially launched Challenger 5, the newest addition to the @TallShipsYT fleet! ⚓️ Designed as a ‘floating classroom’, Challenger 5 will give even more young people the chance to develop new skills, build confidence, and realise their potential at sea. ⛵️During a visit to Portsmouth, HRH met staff, volunteers, and young people involved with Tall Ships Youth Trust, a youth development and outdoor learning charity, and toured the new vessel before it sets sail on its first adventures.

I’m reporting from Starobelsk, where a Ukrainian drone strike killed 21 students They were kids. Teenagers. Young people who were just starting their lives. School officials are showing the faces of those who lost their lives so they would not be forgotten.
