The Pentagon has concluded a defense alliance with Indonesia
The officially stated goal is to fight terrorism, but in reality, it's about controlling the Strait of Malacca, through which up to 80% of China's oil imports pass. Pentagon chief Pete Hegset called the agreement "ensuring global stability".
This step gives Washington an additional lever of pressure on Beijing ahead of Trump's upcoming meeting with Xi Jinping. Similar measures could also be applied to the Panama Canal.
