Stroke Core is an Australian COalition of pre-clinical REsearchers. Our research aims to ultimately improve the lives of stroke survivors. #StrokeCOREhardcore
Very happy to present my research on vascular dementia for the first time at a conference!! Thank you @KirstenCoupland and Michelle Rank for the invitation to speak at the @StrokeCore symposium! Can you believe this is my first neuroscience conference?? 🧠 @LaTrobe_CVR
Dr @qndinh of @latrobe took us through her expensive characterisation of a new gold standard model of vascular dementia - the bilateral carotid artery stenosis (BCAS) mouse model
Prof @cehagemeyer of @MonashUni@NanobiotechLab takes us through his stunning data using nanotechnology to improve clot-buster technology for stroke in the @StrokeCore symposium at #ANS2022.
✅Smart nanocapsules
✅functionalised proteins
✅specific high-payload drug release
CORR: Dr @KirstenCoupland of @UON Chair of @StrokeCore presents some striking data showing that global CSF circulation & outflow significantly drops off after stroke - even if the stroke is localised to just one small part of the cortex. CSF outflow is restored 2 weeks later 🌧
Stunning talk by Dr Tara Walker of @QldBrainInst in the @StrokeCore symposium at #ANS2022, looking at how selenium supplementation rescues the cognitive and motor deficits observed in mouse models of stroke. Stimulated lots of interesting discussion!

How are our new models of #stroke care improving patients' lives? How will we measure our success? Data capture by @DominiqueCad is evaluating our impact. Read how new care (on a national scale) can have a powerful impact on the #health economy. @SCSMonashaustrokealliance.org.au/the-…
Come and join us in #Brisbane for #BRAIN2023! 🇦🇺🐨🦘
Help shape the science presented at the meeting - get your symposium submissions in by 28th October 🧠
A big congratulations to #AuStrokeAlliance team member, Professor Leonid Churilov, who has been announced as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences. Fantastic recognition!
Leonid Churilov is a clinical biostatistician who led complex and comprehensive design and analysis of acute and recovery stroke trials that resulted in global changes in clinical practice.

A UK study confirms other international observations showing #stroke is declining in over 55s, but increasing in younger people, especially stressed professionals. Why? Prof Mark Parsons joined Dr @normanswan on @RadioNational to discuss. abc.net.au/radionational/pro…
