I was too young to appreciate it, at the time. But it's glorious. If you have time, maybe give An Ungentlemanly Act a spin.

Farewell Udo Kier, not only one of the finest actors I have worked with but the kindest and nicest. Here we are on Revelation together in Malta, he was The Grand Master (what else?). His eyes made the poster!

RIP Alan Yentob. He gave me my debut as a writer/director, in 1992. The BBC Head of Drama had turned down An Ungentlemanly Act but Alan, who had barely met me, decided to back the film out of his own budget at BBC2 and damn the consequences. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cy8d…

Hazel Stewart, portrayed by Genevieve O'Reilly in "The Secret", the TV drama I adapted from Deric Henderson's book, is staging another appeal! Sounding very like the attempt of a few years back, don't you think, @derichenderson ? bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cgle…

Many of his fans wouldn't know that the famous intellectual Noam Chomsky was responsible for casting doubt on the first reports of the Khmer Rouge atrocities. He didn't deny the killings outright - but his scepticism muddied the waters at a critical moment. 🧵
50 years ago Pol Pot’s forces entered the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh, ushering in perhaps the most insanely murderous regime in all of human history, per capita. They did this to the cheers and satisfaction of Western left intellectualdom.

Nice to see more stills from my brother @Stuart_Urban film ‘An Ungentlemanly Act’ here Ricky - and Lo and behold there he is in a cameo playing the Argentine buzo tactico guy with the silenced Sterling!

2) Yes, the scene above did really happen; however, the curious thing is that Argentine officially had no troops in town who could have been fighting, yet they popped up the second it all kicked off: they were everywhere and evidently infiltrated in before the invasion.

Can Nato operate when the trust between the US and its European allies is gone? Britain is struggling to bridge the gaps but basic doubts exist among others as to whether any US guarantee can still be replied upon. My latest for the Sunday Times (£)
