As usual at this time of year we have people on worried about having a bumblebee โhiveโ in their garden.
โAre they dangerous?โ
โShould I have them removed?โ
โWill they be there forever?โ
Hereโs a quick #bumblebee#lifecycle thread to explain.
Please #retweet for the #bees.

Iโm sure many of you are interested in the plight of our rarest UK Grasshopperโฆ..so a piece I filmed last year about the reintroduction of Large Marsh Grasshopper at Wild Ken Hill with @Stuvigreen should be on The One Show tonight, 7pm on BBC One.
Hundreds of dolphins washed ashore in Somalia, after Chinese fishing vessels used powerful SONAR to chase Tunas.
Chinese fishing vessels loitering illegally inside Somalia's waters, are causing huge environmental damage!
The last time Lincoln City were in the 2nd tier (1960-61), my dad was playing for them! โฝ๏ธ
Were he still alive today, heโd be SO happy! Itโs a small miracle.
Congratulations to everyone involved at LCFC, the imps!

๐ข Supermarkets - up your standards โฆ
โฆ I hate greenwashing!
The @RedTractorFood assurance scheme has been found to mislead the public.
I just wrote to my supermarket to demand robust environmental standards on their products.
Will you join me?

This female Large Marsh Grasshopper, seen today (with friend), is almost certainly the adult of a VERY purple nymph seen at the same spot 2 weeks ago, at our Norfolk Broads release site.

Our biggest, most handsome grasshopper has made a comeback in the Norfolk Broads, thanks to @CitizenZoo โs Hope of Hope project!

Spotted an old friend this morning!
I did fieldwork a short paper on Irish Yellow Slug, Limacus maculatus, back in 1989.
The population was living in crevices in an old stone wall in Huntingdon mostly active at night time.
The local constabulary found it all very interesting!
Fabulous morning at @wildkenhill with @Stuvigreen, Lead Entomologist with @CitizenZoo - helping to reintroduce the countryโs largest (and rarest) grasshopper - the Large Marsh Grasshopper.
A fantastic citizen-led project that is a joy to see in action.
Brimstone caterpillar on Alder Buckthorn, in Belper, Derbys.
A few adult males were flying about - not sure if they are the same generation or the parentsโs generation.
๐ขย This #WorldOceanDay, we demand action for our seas: BAN bottom trawling in marine protected areas.ย ๐
Destructive bottom trawling is STILL going on in most of our marine protected areas.ย ๐จ
Let's tell them the world is watching and the time is now.ย โฐย
