France looking hot. Look like the best equipped side to win World Cup and I have them down as my favourites.

Central Park looking well on this stunning summer's morning. Out for a stroll before Spain v Cape Verde.

Heading to the fan park at Flushing Meadows for Germany v Curacao this afternoon. Be interesting to see how the Germans get on. They should be amongst the contenders to potentially win it, but I suspect the injuries they have suffered to Gnabry and Karl will catch them out.

Bit of a clash of sports here in New York. Came in a bar for Brazil v Morocco and told the soccer will be switched off at 7.55pm regardless - for the New York Kicks basketball game. Most New Yorkers I have spoken with so far are non-plussed by the World Cup.

Not wondering at all, no. It's very obviously to save money. If the BBC had gone down the ITV route and hired/built a studio in a prime location with a Manhattan backdrop, the Mail/Telegraph would be demanding someone write a column expressing faux outrage about that

This. I get some people in England have gripes about aspects of this World Cup but criticisms of kick off times should be dismissed. It's a world game.

Seeing so many people moan about the kick-off times. I get it, it’s shit for us, waiting until the evening to start and having to power through into the early hours is horrible but it’s the World Cup. The clue is in the name, a 3pm kick off here is 7am in LA. It is what it is.

My dark horses Switzerland ready to come to the party. Come on Granit. Stadium looks pretty full. I thought there would be far more empty seats than this.

Looking at colours on display in New York this afternoon, I think the percentage of Brazilian yellow against Moroccan red in the stadium tonight tonight will be at least 80%.

A FIFA World Cup host country must guarantee two fundamental principles: the safety of the country — and the unrestricted entry of all qualified teams, officials and referees. The case of referee Omar Artan from Somalia is against one of these obligations. FIFA must never compromise the universality of football. #Fifa #Somalia #GianniInfantino #CAF #OmarAtan #DonaldTrump

I won't be going to Brazil v Morocco today. Just had a quick scan online and tickets are still still over £1,000. Had wondered if they may have fallen significantly in price closer to the game, but that has not been the case.

Watching the USA v Paraguay match on Fox and it was straight to an advert on the hydration break. It is understandable having them in matches in blistering heat but that's not case here. They wouldn't go down well in Premier League.

The Sofi Stadium looks fantastic. Should be a good one this. I remember watching their opener in their previous home World Cup in 1994 against Switzerland in Detroit.

The few Americans I have spoken to so far have shown little interest in World Cup. In contrast my flight was full of Scots out here for it. Spoke with a few pleasant Norway fans on my train journey into Manhattan. A good number of Brazilian shirts out and about.

Despite a two hour flight delay and one hour plus waiting at passport control, I am glad to be at my hotel in New York. Ready to head out to a pre-booked bar for USA v Paraguay. I had forgotten how humid New York is in summer. I have already encountered a thunderstorm.

With the World Cup underway, I will make some predictions. Winner: France. Big nations to flop: Argentina and Portugal. Surprise team: Switzerland. Honourable mentions for Norway and Senegal who are in same group and could cause upsets. England: Get to final and lose to France.

At Heathrow Airport ready to depart to New York for World Cup. The ITV studio by Brooklyn Bridge has really got me in the mood. Plentiful numbers of Scotland supporters here. They will be very well supported in Boston tomorrow night.

Ya se los dije: Cristiano Ronaldo va a impedir que una de las mejores generaciones de Portugal no triunfe en 2026 y todo por su egoísmo y obsesión con los records.

This is embarrassing. I will find it very amusing watching Ronaldo embarrass himself in the World Cup. Genuinely feel for the outstanding young Portuguese players have to play with such a carthorse. Not fair on them.
Nigerian Government should fix this Uyo stadium pitch, see how this pitch has made Ronaldo miss 2 clear chances The grass is not Good 🙄

Watching penalty shootout` in the Qatar World Cup final and Hugo Lloris was dreadful. Didn't look like getting to any of them. Worse than Shilton against West Germany in Italia 90. Still painful watching highlights of that match.
