Only planned flight in this block, a short hop to Madeira and back. Interesting wind change between Rosario and the runway threshold of 180° and around 30kts. In just a mile or so. Approach chart depicting Rosario. The mountain just on the other side of the runway. Land ahead

After a „survived“ standby at home yesterday, this morning it was off to Basel again. Within 2 minutes when we entered the runway the fog moved in. We were lucky enough to get out, but after that it was closed airport for a while. A rare guest (United 737Max) Slot delay.

Had a nice and relaxed evening flight to Geneva (aka the 2nd most expensive city to live in where AC is illegal) last night. Only a single thunderstorm to evade, nothing on the way back. CB. Meeting some colleagues over northern Spain. Swissport names their EVs OPO

Sometimes this job is a bit weird. Saw they were changing around duties on my roster. Received and confirmed 3 changes for next Monday, and each change brings me €240. my flying pay comes on top, and they might do more. The max I had was 5 for a single day. The future is bright

This week is a bit of a rut. Flying to FNC, then to GVA, and then the same again. But this mornings flight to Madeira and back was quite enjoyable, finished by a beautifully flown raw data and manual thrust approach of my FO with a ceiling of 400ft. Porto Santo. Funchal. Ship.

Wrapped up flying two days of flying with the only german FO in base (that i know of). Yesterday it was a middle Madeira and after minimum rest (plus 4 minutes) an early flight to Geneva and back. It is sometimes nice to be able to chat in ones native language.

Rare, but after many years a quick visit to headquarters. After passing over London Heathrow we continued on to Luton, where we parked right in front of the headquarter, which is actually a real hangar. Hazy London. Orange in front of an orange Hangar.

B-Roll. They opened the hangar shortly after and yes, there was an aircraft inside for maintenance work. So it is actively used besides being the main office.

Last night it was another flight to Madeira and back. There was quite a but of weather east of Porto, but thankfully we headed to the southwest. Managed to grease the landings with the winds close to the limit. And boy, do I hate late duties. But sadly bidding doesn’t always work

It was a pretty late rotation last night, not helped by an APU generator not working. The APU is needed to produce electric and pneumatic power when the engines are not running. Approaching Paris on the way back. Some Tower. Parking besides a 787 private jet.

Today I had an early flight to Paris Orly. Nearly no clouds along the way, but lots of dust/sand from the Sahara desert, especially in Spain and Portugal. My colleague is based in Charles de Gaulle, so he took the opportunity to land in Orly. Green French countryside. View back

Yesterday was a long day at work, and a new destination for me. We flew to Praia on the Cape Vérdes, a 4:25 long trip. As it is a captains only landing on runway 03 I had to take it there, while the FO flew it back. 🇵🇹 coast. Passing the canary islands. Praia and Ilha do Fogo.

Today it’s off to Madeira again, this time fairly late in the day and a landing in the dark. It’s nice to have the sun out after weeks of storms and rain. Leaving the mainline cost, and OPO. Madeira ahead, as usual fairly cloudy.

I won a trip out of standby, to Nice and back. Today was one of those days where we were on clouds at FL340. The approach along the Cote d‘Azure was a nice change after that, as was the departure towards Toulon. And sometimes I have to use just too many iPads.

Theres US business class on short haul flight, and then there is the european business class with just a free seat beside you, and then there is #TAP where you get the exact same treatment for your money as the pothead in the last row. Truly exceptionally bad.
