I don't find it hard to believe. I've heard UK white people casually speak out against foreigners often. My French friend who works in NHS was told - while working, by a patient - "we don't like foreigners here".

Stephen Hawking wasn't expected to survive long enough to finish his PhD. He lived to 76 & became Britain's Einstein - a cultural icon who appeared in The Simpsons & Big Bang Theory, and defender of the NHS to the end. Moral of the story = never stop, even if it seems impossible

Sad to hear about Stephen Hawking. What a remarkable life. His contributions to science will be used as long as there are scientists, and there are many more scientists because of him. He spoke about the value and fragility of human life and civilisation and greatly enhanced both

I find it inconceivable, genuinely, that a government would proceed with a policy (brexit with Mayβs so-called βred linesβ) when faced with this assessment of the consequences.
