In a significant development, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor met representatives from P@SHA, Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), the Ministry of IT and Telecom Pakistan, and other senior members of the IT industry. The Governor engaged in open and constructive discussions with industry representatives, delving into the challenges faced by IT companies in making and receiving international
#payments. Issues pertaining to corporate
#debit cards and outward
#remittances were at the forefront of these discussions.
P@SHA Chairman Muhammad Zohaib Khan highlighted key issues faced by the IT sector. Other key stakeholders from MoITT including Aisha Moriani were also represented in the meeting.
Recognizing the significance of the IT industry to Pakistan's economic growth, SBP assured the representatives of free movement of 50% USD retention along with its commitment to improving the overall payment ecosystem in the country.
In addition to these discussions, SBP remarked on the Roadshows and Help Desks to further enhance communication, educate IT companies about the SBP's
#forex retention policies and provide a centralized platform for IT companies to raise their concerns and seek assistance with payment-related matters.
By addressing the payment facilitation challenges, SBP is taking a proactive approach to further strengthen Pakistan's IT Sector.
