When any major leader or head of government appears on the international stage, people should also look at their local actions — especially on human rights, political freedom, and freedom of speech. Global image and local reality do not always tell the same story.

🇮🇳 In many countries like
#India, governments invest huge efforts and resources into managing public image, while questions remain about whether the same level of effort is directed toward the welfare of ordinary people. Social media influence can sometimes create an environment where leaders are portrayed beyond criticism, and people gradually lose the courage to speak openly.
A healthy democracy also depends on accountability. It is important that leaders face questions — including difficult ones — not only from international media but also from journalists in their own countries. Too often, we see press conferences where sensitive local issues are avoided or left unchallenged.
🇳🇴 That is why moments such as the recent questioning by
@HelleLyngSvends about local
#humanrights issues attracted attention. International visits should not only be about diplomacy and image; they can also be opportunities for meaningful questions and public accountability.
