The Financial Times reports on November 16, 2022 that drought and climate change are leading governments to ease restrictions on gene-edited crops. Gene editing splices genetic material from a single species of plant to improve drought tolerance, nutrition, yield or other

characteristics. Traditional regulation of genetically modified crops has mainly been aimed, instead, at crops created by splicing genes from different species together.
