The Maywood Library is back— and it’s better than ever.
I know it was a long year and a half for the Maywood community while our @LACountyLibrary and @LACoPublicWorks crews worked to renovate this space, but I hope we can all agree it was worth the wait.
‼️ @calwater has issued a boil water advisory for parts of Rolling Hills and Rolling Hills Estates due to main repair.

Started my day at LACAHSA where we are focused on making housing more affordable in LA County.
I was just elected Second Vice Chair and look forward to helping lead this important agency.
Today I welcomed Terryl Bruce, co-founder of the Way Out Ministries in @HawaiianGardens, to lead our invocation.
Terryl & her husband Barry began the ministry in 1984 and have devoted themselves to the community ever since—and I want to thank them for their dedication & service.
These sea lion pups— named Orrecchiette, Cascatelli and Marshmallow— were all ill and malnourished when they were rescued in late April.
But thanks to the @MMCCLA team, they have recovered and are ready to return to the wild.
Today’s release was part of LA County’s recognition of World Oceans Day and @lacdbh’s 3rd Marine Mammal Regional Convening.
This meeting w/ @MMCCLA, @HealtheBay, @lapublichealth & @CAWildlife was an opportunity to discuss emerging risks to marine wildlife and how we can prepare.
It’s a beautiful day for a fishing derby, and it’s great to see so many kids practicing their skills out at Don Knabe Park.
Congratulations to 8-year-old Kylie from Lakewood who won the prize for biggest fish— she reeled in one that weighed in at 4.1 pounds!
There are opera lovers across our County, but I know how hard it can be to get all the way to Downtown Los Angeles for a show— and no one knows the struggle more than Catalina residents.
That's why I partnered with @LAOpera to bring a performance to the Island yesterday.
It was an incredible setting for a beautiful performance, and I look forward to continuing our partnership with the LA Opera to make sure everyone in LA County has access to world-class arts and culture experiences.
Today is Gun Violence Awareness Day in LA County, and I want to make sure people know about things we have done at the County level to address gun violence— and the steps residents themselves can take to protect their families.
People should also know about Gun Violence Restraining Orders.
These allow family, employers, colleagues, teachers & law enforcement to file a petition to prevent someone who may harm themselves or others from having a gun, ammo or magazine.

My office has also hosted 16 gun buybacks— and our next one, with @LBPD, is on Saturday, June 27 at MLK Park in Long Beach.
At these buybacks, people can turn in their firearms in exchange for gift cards, completely anonymously.
Every day, guns sold at Turner’s stores turn up at crime scenes. They have inflicted immeasurable harm on LA County residents, and we should wield every tool we have to protect people.
Thank you @bradybuzz for joining me in calling for an investigation.

For a decade, Mr. Rosewood Family Restaurant in Norwalk has been a pillar of the community— and today my team joined their 10th anniversary celebration.
Thank you to Jason and his staff for the amazing work you do, and for making the best pozole and menudo!
.@LASDHQ is spreading the word that the US military will be conducting a training exercise in the City of Industry tonight until 1am.
People in the area may see military helicopters or hear what sounds like gunfire or explosions— but there is no need to be alarmed.
