Waiting for change is hard. All I can do is prepare the ground & nurture my roots so my feet have somewhere solid to stand, & that if my branches get battered in a storm, they can regrow, changed slightly by the environment around me. Thankfully I'm stood in a forest & not alone.
So many lovely thoughtful gifts on my retirement from Strathcarron Hospice today. Thank you all. It was a perfect day. This very special poem by Dr Sally Boa was icing on the cake! @BoaSally @strathcarron1@CormacRussell

Trusting relationships are at the heart of our ability to deliver change. Trust takes time to build & can be lost quickly. To quote a Dutch proverb: "trust comes in like a tortoise & goes out like a horse". The "Trust Trifecta" from @TCI_ca suggests 3 components we need to work on to be trusted leaders & collaborators:
1) Authenticity
2) Connection
3) Competence

This book review moved me to tears. For 25 years, this man has carried the trauma of misunderstanding the changes in his mum's breathing as she was dying.
We all need to understand & talk about dying. Nobody should have to carry that unnecessary burden.

This is so important. The need within some professionals and institutions to "fix" problems and issues that don't belong to them can be destructive. I have witnessed this many tomes
Most suffering exists beyond the scope of medical & other professional cures. Institutional overreach into such domains of suffering (community space) isnāt just non-productive; they're counterproductive, which is to say they create the opposite of whatās intended: more suffering
What if instead of prescribing our version of salvation, we started with the question, āWhat are local communities already doing, which creates that which we think they are missing?ā TheConnected.Community
