I finished writing this book back in 2009 & I still can't believe it's finally being released into the wild years later by @uindyetchings! Please consider supporting me and my work by purchasing a copy if you're financially able. 🙏 #IARTG#BYNR

Our 6th Poetry Contest IS NOW OPEN FOR SUBS--SEND US YOUR QUEER NATURE POEMS <3
June 1st - June 7th we'll be accepting submissions <3
Laura Villareal is our lead judge this round--picking the theme of "Nature As It Is: Poems of Queer Ecology"!
In Laura's words: "Queer ecology (which is really just ecology) disrupts presumptions of binary thinking at every turn. Heteronormativity and dualism aren’t the norm in the abundant and radically inclusive reality of nature. The more-than-human world is brimming with queerness and continues to challenge human-imposed limitations on our understanding of sex, gender, and sexuality. Give me your poems about many gendered mushrooms, send me your pantoums about male seahorses giving birth, villanelles about sex-changing clownfish and ginko trees, and sonnets for queer creatures (flora, fauna, and funga). Whatever form, whatever part of nature calls to you. Let’s return together to the truth about our world, overflowing with queerness—nature as it is. Surprise me."

Thanks so much to everyone who has already backed the Kickstarter campaign. This story is very special to me because it was the first I finished after my return to writing in 2020-2021. Very excited for it to be reprinted here. Final chance to join in: kickstarter.com/projects/sci…

“Still, the unmeasurable ingredients of homecooked meals remained shrouded in silence within the walls of our home, unspoken sentiments displaced by harsh criticisms that left me vulnerable, never invincible.”

“Lay down your weapons and kill an idea of yourself up close. Face to face. Stop practicing taxidermy. Stop writing short stories and start finding children trapped in wells. There are thousands.”

“My father meant “invincible,” of course, but for once I failed to correct his imprecise English because I believed he had, entirely by chance, stumbled across a hidden truth of my childhood.”

ALT Cover: Listen To Me and I’ll Tell You A Story by Ejiwa “Edge” Ebenebe. In an underwater scene tinted in sea green, a child-like being with flowing ochre-colored hair and dark sea green skin sits on a mass of orange-ochre and green tentacles talking to a school of salmon-color fish. In the foreground, another school of brown fish swimming away from the scene. The text "Uncanny," "September/October 2025," "Issue Sixty-Six," and the credits are in white.
