WIM Shubhi Gupta (2242) from Uttar Pradesh scored her first WGM norm at the Munich IM norm tournament 2026 happening in Germany. The 2010 born youngster had just achieved her WIM title just a month ago and has now shown tremendous performance to take the next big step in her career. Shubhi scored 6.5/9, scoring 4 wins and 5 draws, remaining unbeaten, performing at an Elo of 2433 and narrowly missing out on her IM norm. She also gained 92 Elo points, taking her to 2334 on the rating list. The youngster is trained by GM Swapnil Dhopade and is supported by Pravaha Foundation as her sponsor! My long time dream project will be formally launched tomorrow at Chennai. Alongside, the website cholachess.com will be launched as well so that the deserving players can directly register for the free monthly camps according to their ratings. We have run the project on a pilot basis for the last 6 months. Already completed 36 camps, more than 150 students, more than 15 Grand Masters as students.
