Finally got around to playing Doom: The Dark Ages and man it was better than I expected. I didn't enjoy Eternal as much as Doom 2016 mostly just due to how complicated the mechanics were. But TDA dialed the complexity back in favor of a more simple set of mechanics that relies on your execution of those simple mechanics for the challenge. It's not perfect but it's probably the most badass I've ever felt in a shooter, the controls and mechanics felt like second nature once I got into the swing of it.
