My little haul from the Somme (@FeroDawg and @cinnabaron did the digging). The rusted fragments are from one millions of shrapnel shells fired into the french countryside. The small round balls are the shrapnel that is forced out of the shell midair by the round disk at right.

Watching foreigners explore North America has been my favorite part of the World Cup. Germans at Bass Pro in the American south, Koreans doing keg stands while wearing sombreros in Mexico, Swedes being amazed by something like Iowa. Truly wonderful times
