Corrosion in acidic environments has always meant high costs and heavy chemical use. Our patent aims to change that.​ Most inhibitors either need heavy dosing or fail at higher temperatures. So, we asked: what if we designed the molecule smarter from the start?

Instead of trial-and-error chemistry, we used computational molecular screening (Density functional theory-based simulations) to evaluate several organic molecules digitally.​ We looked for two key things:​ Strong atomic-level binding and excellent coverage.​ One molecule stood out, Naphthalene-1-thiocarboxamide.

You cannot test the correctness of AI using AI. A simple line, but one that sparked several thoughtful conversations while hosting students from @iitbombay at our Tata Research Development and Design Centre (TRDDC) Pune. The visit went beyond demonstrations, opening up rich conversations on agentic AI, statistical thinking, sustainability, mobility, and how applied research shows up in the real world. What stood out most was not just the technology, but the learning that emerged through dialogue, where human judgement, curiosity, and intelligent systems came together to unpack complex problems.
